Oskar Maria Graf’s devastating portayal of Spießbürger, the petty bourgeois philistines who voted for, or succumbed to, the Hitler movement. The book was was written in 1934-5 after Graf had gone into exile, and was published in 1937 through Malik-Verlag, a German publisher based in London.
